The director of a Chisinau agricultural company was arrested on suspicion of active corruption. He attempted to persuade the director of the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture to adopt a favorable decision so that he received state subsidies for developing agriculture, IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center (NAC), the entrepreneur offered 50,000 lei to the functionary for this service. The arrest was made in the office of the Agency’s director, after the money was transmitted under the control of the NAC.
The company director was remanded in custody. He faces three to seven years in jail and a fine of 80,000 to 120,000 lei over active corruption.
