The manager of a construction company was sentenced to 10 years in jail for swindle. According to prosecutors, the man signed investment contracts for building apartments with 25 private individuals without having a plot on which to erect the block and the required documents. He promised that the building will be ready by the end of 2010, Info-Prim Neo reports. Viorel Morari, acting head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, told a news conference on Friday that the director of SRL Pestalar announced that the company will construct an apartment building in on Moara Rosie St 2008 – 2010 and started to collect money from different investors as payment for the future dwellings. The victims paid over 5 million lei, but the company did not even start the construction works. The police presume that the number of victims is much higher. They are now examining complaints from other persons. The manager managed to convince so many people to invest money because the company earlier erected an apartment building. A legal case over misappropriation was started in December 2008. The sentence passed by the Rascani district court can be appealed to a higher court.
