Viorica Carare could be dismissed from the post of director of the National Competition Protection Agency because she “defied Parliament”, according to MP Veaceslav Ionita, the head of the Parliamentary Commission for Economy Matters. Veaceslav Ionita said after today's meeting of the Commission that Viorica Carare had been summoned to appear before Parliament to present a report on the Agency's work, but she said in a letter that she was too busy to come. “I was really surprised that Mrs Carare has defied Parliament in such a manner and it is the first time I see a such a letter. This exceeds the limits of both the law and common sense. If she cannot come to Parliament at the notice of a parliamentarian and head of Commission, I'm afraid to think of what she might do on the market”, stated Veaceslav Ionita. Veaceslav Ionita said he was not happy with the work of Viorica Carare. “I don't like working with such people and I will do everything not to work with them. This also means dismissal”. However, Viorica Carare denies both having been summoned and sending such a letter. She was requested to appear today at the Commission's meeting to present a report on the Agency's work, which nevertheless was not heard. “It is strange when you are requested to present an activity report on thousands of pages within 24 hours”, said Viorica Carare. It was decided that the report would be heard by the Commission next week.
