“The encouragement and compliments paid by Voronin to the unionist Ghimpu are political mutations. We see that cooperation relations between the extreme left (PCRM) and the extreme right (PL) reappear in Moldova. When the extreme parties cultivate each other, we should expect other political crises and the deepening of the cleavage in society,” MP Igor Dodon says in a statement, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The lawmaker considers it became clear for everyone that the PCRM and the AEI are responsible for the perpetuation of the political crisis. “They set the date of the presidential elections, but were unable to negotiate and give up their ambitions so as to identify a compromise candidate. Neither the PCRM nor the AEI fielded a candidate, though they had the possibility of doing it. Thus, the PCRM and the AEI, at least some of the leaders of the alliance, pushed the country towards early elections,” said the ex-Communist Igor Dodon.
He also said that the three MPs called the Dodon group offered a real solution to the crisis – they were ready to give their votes to an apolitical candidate for the presidency. “We consider that this solution is the only viable from now on and it still can be implemented one way or another. The early elections must be avoided. The optimal solution is to elect an apolitical, relatively neutral and consensual candidate who will be above the political struggles,” stated Igor Dodon.
He reiterated he will not allow promoting Mihai Ghimpu to a key state post and will not allow the PCRM to encourage Ghimpu’s initiatives and behavior. “The anti-state and anti-Moldova actions taken by Ghimpu’s Liberal Party represent a too great danger to the political stability and the country’s integrity and to social common sense,” reads the statement.
Igor Dodon left the Communist parliamentary group, together with Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuk, on November 4. He took part in two meetings of the AEI Council, suggesting Zinaida Greceanyi for the post of President.
