The Cabinet approved the new composition of the commission for holding commercial and investment contests to privatize public property. The post of chairman will be held by a secretary of state of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, while that of deputy chairman by the director of the Public Property Agency that is managed by the Government. The head of the Agency’s Privatization and Post-Privatization Division will hold the post of secretary of the commission, IPN reports.

The commission will also include the vice director general of the Public Property Agency, deputy secretary general of the State Chancellery and secretaries of states of the Ministries of Finance, Justice, Agriculture, Health, and Education.

Explaining the necessity of modifying the composition of the commission, Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmac, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, said there are at least ten cases when the investment obligations are not fulfilled after purchasing large publicly owned facilities at investment contests. The bought facilities are left to go to ruin.
