Moldovan Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco says the person who threw an RG-42 grenade during the concert celebrating Chisinau's dedication day on Wednesday has been identified, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Zubco, the investigation task-force responsible for the case identified the suspect thanks to witness reports. Eye witnesses provided detailed descriptions of the person and his behavior during the concert. The suspect, described as a young man, has been identified and now is being searched for. Zubco refused to give a name so as not to affect the investigation. The prosecutor general sees a link between the blast in the Great National Assembly Square and two threat calls received earlier by Premier Vlad Filat's office. Zubco concluded that the motive was to “intimidate the population”. At a press conference, Minister of Interior Victor Catan said the threatening phone calls received by Filat's office concerned some reforms of the government, but didn't mention any possibility of some terrorist attempts. The grenade explosion caused numerous splinter injuries to over 40, mostly young, persons attending the celebrations.
