The National Unity Party’s candidate for mayor general of Chisinau municipality Constantin Codreanu on April 19 submitted the set of documents required for being registered as a contender in the Mayor 20 mayoral election. At the Chisinau District Electoral Council, he came accompanied by representatives of the PUN and of the Liberal Reformist Party, who support Constantin Codreanu in his candidacy, IPN reports.

After he filed the documents, Constantin Codreanu made statements for the press. He formulated several messages for the election runners and the inhabitants of Chisinau. “I call on the pro-European and unionist parties to stop any attack as the arguments will benefit Dodon and Plahotniuc. It is regrettable that not all the unionists have a common candidate, but I’m sure they will have this in the runoffs. I promise to be the mayor of all the citizens of Chisinau, regardless of the language they speak. I will not resort to geopolitics at the City Hall,” noted the candidate.

Constantin Codreanu also said that if need be, he is ready to vacate his seat of member of Romania’s Parliament. “If I have to leave the post I held, I will do it. I learned the best practices and benefits in a European capital and want to implement these here, in Chisinau. I will bring what the capital city and its residents lack – really important projects and reforms,” he stated.

April 19 is the last day when aspirants can file applications to be registered as election runners. Thirteen persons have announced their candidacy so far, with 12 of these having filed the documents for registration. These are Ion Ceban, of the Party of Socialists; Valeriu Munteanu, of the Liberal Party; Andrei Nastase, of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, Reghina Apostolova, of the Shor Party, Alexandr Roshko, of Our Home Moldova Party; Vasile Costiuc, of the Democracy at Home Party; Constantin Codreanu, of the National Unity Party; Victor Stratila, of the Green Ecologist Party; Maxim Braila, of the People’s Party of Moldova, Alexandra Can, of the National Liberal Party, Andrei Munteanu, of the Progressive Society Party and, current acting mayor of Chisinau Silvia Radu (independent).
