The Constitutional Court today validated the election of the 20th Parliament of Moldova, together with the mandates of the elected deputies and the lists of alternate members, IPN reports.

In the November 30 election, the Socialist Party got 20.51% of the votes and 25 seats in the Parliament, the Liberal-Democrats 20.16% and 23 seats, the Communists 17.48% and 21 seats, the Democrats 15.80% and 19 seats, and the Liberals 9.67% and 13 seats.

Socialist members rallied outside the Constitutional Court building to protest what they say were rigged elections and to demand a repeat vote.

According to the law, the newly-elected parliament shall assemble upon the convocation of the President of Moldova no later than 30 days from the election date. The Parliament was elected for a term of four years.
