The contest of movie screenplays announced by Moldova-Film Studio was extended by one month. The new deadline for the submission of works is January 15, 2010. The Studio's artistic director Valeriu Turcanu has told Info-Prim Neo that the time limit was extended at the request of scriptwriters.
According to Valeriu Turcanu, two scrips for full-length movies and five scripts for short films have been submitted so far. “The scripts for full-length movies are attempts to make comedy on the basis of perestroika, while those for short films - on contemporary material. More works are expected by January 15,” he said.
“We wait for better scripts. As practically no films were made during about 20 years, the scriptwriters forgot what cinematographic thinking means.”
According to Turcanu, many authors have narrow views and act like operators and directors of videos as they do not have experience and a long message to transmit.
Another problem encountered by the organizers is the shortage or even lack of funds for implementing the ideas collected by the contest. “We face a dilemma as we have not been financed this year and do not know what will happen next year,” Valeriu Turcanu said.
The aim of the contest is to identify authors with new, modern views of the reality. “We need contemporary scrips about the social life, people's ideals and hopes even if presented in a historical context,” Turcanu said.
