Coordinated control will be instituted at the Giurgiulești (Republic of Moldova) – Galati (Romania) road border crossing point, on the entry into Romania. The Cabinet approved a draft decision on the initiation of negotiations and approval of the signing of the relevant agreement with the Romanian Government, IPN reports.

Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros said that this agreement represents the second successful example of cooperation in this regard and marks a new stage of integration and coordination between the two states.

"Through this agreement, we aim to implement efficient and clear procedures for coordinated control, thus contributing to the simplification and streamlining of border crossing processes. Reducing the waiting time and optimizing border traffic will facilitate citizens' access and the transport of goods between the two countries," noted the minister.

According to him, the agreement will generate concrete benefits for the citizens of both states, by increasing border security, intensifying economic and trade exchanges and supporting common European standards. In addition, by reducing waiting time and streamlining procedures, the treaty will significantly contribute to supporting local economies, ensuring a stable and secure flow of resources and investments.

Currently, there is a valid similar agreement providing for coordinated control at the Leușeni-Albița state border crossing point.
