The costs incurred by the patients of the hospitals that remained without medicines and medical consumables will be covered. Acting Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi urged the people to keep the sales slips issued by drugstores so as to present them to the directors of medical institutions, IPN reports.
The shortage of medicines appeared because the firms that supply the hospitals with drugs refused to provide new supplies until the prices of medicines are revised.
On January12, an order was issued to review the prices of drugs following the depreciation of the leu against the main foreign currencies. ‘I’m sure that the importers of medicines took this decision into account and will import drugs. This adjustment was aimed at unblocking the situation and at avoiding the appearance of a shortage of medicines,” said the acting minister.
Andrei Usatyi also said that the future legislature will review the auctioning procedure and the procedure for approving the contract with suppliers of drugs so that November and December are contracting months for ensuring the continuity of supplies to medical institutions.
After the order to review the prices of drugs was issued, the prices of over 2,000 medicines were increased by up to 7%.
