Couple arrested for stealing lift parts

A Chisinau man, 24, and his female companion, 19, were arrested by the police on suspicion of stealing parts from residential lifts across the city. Adrian Jovmir, spokesperson for the General Police Commissariat, has told Info-Prim Neo that the couple usually operated during evening and night hours. It took them only several minutes to do the job: the man was unscrewing the parts as his girlfriend was looking out. The parts would then be sold. The couple confessed to committing at least 15 such thefts in less than 2 months. If found guilty by court, they will have to pay 6,000 to 20,000 lei in fines or serve up to 4 years' terms.
