Four Chisinau court clerks were arrested by the Anticorrutption Center on charges of abuse of authority and tampering with public records.
In particular, the functionaries are suspected of unlawfully meddling in the administration of some civil cases in the period of 2012-2014 by tampering with the automated random case allocation system.
The Anticorrutption Center said the arrests were accompanied by searches in the suspects' homes and cars. It is believed that the clerks were replacing some cases with others so that these could be allocated to the same judge.
The four functionaries are now in the Center's custody. Shortly, the prosecutors will request the Superior Council of Magistracy to strip the suspected judge of immunity so that he can be prosecuted.
The suspects face prison terms of up to 10 years.
