The Liberal-Democratic MPs’ application to release ex-Premier Vlad Filat from pretrial detention under house arrest under their guarantee was rejected, prosecutor Adriana Betisor, who is dealing with this case, has said, quoted by IPN.

According to Adriana Betisor, the MPs’ application was dismissed as groundless. The court also rejected the request to replace her as prosecutor in this case, which was made by the defense of Vlad Filat, describing it as unfounded too.

The prosecutor also said that the March 2 hearing centered on the examination of the main materials of the case, with businessman Ilan Shor being questioned as a witness. Ilan Shor maintained the self-denouncing statements he made earlier.

Five MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party on March 2 submitted a requisition asking that ex-Premier Vlad Filat should be released from remand detention under house arrest under their guarantee. These are Maria Ciobanu, Vadim Pistrinciuc, Tudor Deliu, Angel Agachi and Grigore Cobzac. Vadim Pistrinciuc told the press that Vlad Filat does not pose a public threat and cannot influence the investigation.
