Two 29-year-old men living in Drochia district are suspected of murdering a man in 2010. The victim went missing eight years ago, but his fate became known only now, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the investigation was resumed this year following operational information about involved persons and the circumstances in which the crime was committed. The suspects were identified shortly afterward. These turned out to be acquaintances of the victim. One of them was arrested, while the other one serves time in jail on another count.
When being questioned by the police, the suspects admitted their blame. They said that after drinking alcoholic beverages together with the victim, they got into a fight. To hide the crime, the men buried the body in a field near Petreni village of Drochia distrait. The bones were identified and collected as a result of searches.
The suspects face 10 to 15 years in jail or life for murder.
