The former leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc is investigated in a new criminal case started over unjust enrichment in considerable amounts. Legal Acton was taken based on a notice of the Security and Intelligence Service. According to preliminary investigations, tangible assets, including a luxury yacht and real estate in Switzerland, Romania and Spain, were acquired by the suspect also while he sat as an MP, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases is handling the case against Vlad Plahotniuc. The case was transferred to it after caretaker prosecutor general Dumitru Robu annulled the order not to take legal action that was issued in the summer of 2021.
The institution said the general public will be informed about the developments in this case without hampering the investigation.
