“During the past two years, this criminal group has made false promises to the people, but my expectation and the citizens’ expectation are that the members of this group will be brought to justice and, respectively, that what is written in the Criminal Code will happen to them,” Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated when he was asked by the press to comment on the promises made by the governor of Gagauzia Yevgenia Guțul, who recently returned from the Russian Federation, IPN reports.

Premier Recean said that the Government over the past two years demonstrated that it the capacity to ensure public order in Moldova and this is what it will continue to do.

“We will continue to identify those people who undermine the state Republic of Moldova. I will repeat – my expectation and the citizens’ expectation are that all those people who work against the state, against the citizens will be brought to justice and what is written in the Criminal Code will happen to them,” stated the Premier.

On Wednesday, the bashkan of Gagauzia held a press briefing centering on “the results of the official visit to the Russian Federation”. Yevgenia Guţul said that she discussed possibilities of obtaining cheaper gas for the residents of the region, concessions for the farmers in Gagauzia and also the opening of accounts for the Gagauz citizens so that the regional authorities can allocate to them all the promised benefits. According to her, sponsors that want to help ATU Gagauzia have been identified, but the central authorities place obstacles.

A week ago, the Security and Intelligence Service announced that it came into possession of data pointing to the intensification of the Russian Federation’s actions aimed at compromising Moldova’s accession to the European Union, thwarting the democratic processes and keeping the Republic of Moldova under its sphere of influence. According to the service, Ilan Shor’s group with its sociopolitical extensions is the most important actor on which the Russian Federation relies. The amplification of radical separatist tendencies in the southern part of the country, especially ATU Gagauzia, is another pursued goal.
