Alexandr Sinigur, alias "Синий" (The Blue), who had been sentenced to life imprisonment, was released last week from prison. The information was confirmed by the director of ANP (National Penitentiary Administration), Anatolie Falca, IPN reports.
"Sinigur's sentence was changed to 30 years deprivation of liberty because he had a good behavior. We couldn’t avoid submitting the request regarding amnesty, but not release", stated the head of ANP.
Later, Sinigur's lawyers filed a request to the court asking for his release.
"The court did not take into account what the prison had presented. He was supposed to be released in the year 2045, but they let him go in courtroom", added the ANP chief.
"He was released on article 91, inhumane conditions", specified the director of ANP, Anatolie Falca, during the hearing of the Report of the Council for the Prevention of Torture.
ANP has contested the decision at Northern Court of Appeal, mentioned the state secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Ruslan Lungu.
"The position of the penitenciar representative in court was that he should not be released before term. The court, the judge, took a ruling by which he was released înainte de early. Alexandr Sinigur, alias "Синий", was sentenced to life detention in 2006, after being extradited from Russia for a series of particularly and exceptionally serious crimes committed in Moldova and Ukraine.
He was accused of creating and leading an criminal organization, banditry, hostage-taking, attempt and aggravated premeditated murder, dobândire prin extortion, and illegal deprivation of liberty.
He was also sentenced for the murder of businessman Piotr Sari.
