CSM nominates new chair for Riscani District Court

The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) has nominated Oleg Melniciuc as chairman of the Riscani District Court in Chisinau, promoting him from the post of deputy chairman, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the Council's meeting on Wednesday, Oleg Melniciuc stated that if his nomination is endorsed by the President, his first measure as chairman will be to ask those of retirement age to resign in order to improve efficiency and caseflow in his court. Also, Melniciuc said he is negotiating with the Chisinau City Hall for additional spaces for the court. Incumbent Riscani Court chairman Ion Timofei's tenure is expiring. Also on Wednesday, the Council postponed the nomination of a chairperson to the Buiucani District Court because the sole candidate Oleg Sternioala withdrew.
