The currency will be exchanged only if the client presents an identification paper. If the exchanged sum does not exceed the equivalent of 5,000 lei, the document will have to be only presented. If the sum is higher, the employee of the currency exchange facility will have to register the data from the identity card.
According to Deputy Minister of Justice Nicolae Esanu, the provision forms part of a bill whose goal is to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing, IPN reports.
The bill also provides that the real estate agents, payment service providers, postal service provides and other companies must register the clients who occasionally perform transactions to the value of at least 20,000 lei by one operation and of at least 100,000 lei by several operations that seem to be connected between them.
