Two books dating from the 19th century were discovered in a minibus transporting passengers and parcels from Denmark to Moldova. It happened at the Leușeni customs post on October 21, IPN reports, quoting the Customs Service.
The books date from 1875 and 1895 respectively. They were hidden under one of the passenger seats. It was later established that the books belonged to a 25-year-old woman from Căușeni town.
Both of the books will be transmitted to the National Museum of History of Moldova for being examined. If it is determined that these represent cultural values, a criminal case will be started over smuggling of cultural values, which carries a penalty of three to eight years behind bars.
