The Customs Service announced that the first two transit operations within the New NCTS5-MD Computerized Transit System were successfully carried out. The implementation of the new system is an important step for the Republic of Moldova in the process of joining the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure. This modernized customs transit system allows for more efficient and transparent management of the flows of goods transiting the country, thus reducing the waiting time at the border and the related costs for economic agents, the Customs Service said in a news release that is quoted by IPN.
The new Computerized Transit System is used for transit operations at national level, but will also be used for joint transit operations after the Republic of Moldova will join the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure. The system allows for the rapid and secure exchange of information between customs authorities and economic operators, ensuring continuous and accurate monitoring of transit operations.
Economic operators performing transit operations are to migrate voluntarily from the ASYCUDA World system to NCTS5-MD within a period of three months, in accordance with the Order of the Customs Service. In this connection, the Customs Service encourages all economic operators, holders of the transit procedure, to initiate actions in order to migrate to the New Computerized Transit System so as to successfully complete the transition period and enable all economic operators to use the system.
In the coming months, the Customs Service will continue to improve and expand the application of the NCTS, thus preparing for accession to the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure. This process includes organizing information sessions, optimizing the IT infrastructure and working closely with international partners.
