As part of the support for the Republic of Moldova and the long-term response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Czech Republic financed a local project to assist the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery “Diomid Gherman”. In the framework of the project, there were purchased a sterilization device and other equipment for ensuring a continuous sterilization process.
“By modernizing the equipment of the neurosurgery service, the quality of medical services and patient safety were increased. The sterilization device significantly helped to eliminate nosocomial infections in hospital units. The project has positive long-term benefits for patients and for the hospital’s personnel and responds to the urgent needs of the health system of the Republic of Moldova in the fight against Covid-19,” the Embassy of the Czech Republic said in a press release that is quoted by IPN.
This is a follow-up to the Czech support for the health system of the Republic of Moldova. Back in 2020, 18 beds for urgent admissions were delivered to hospitals in Căușeni and Călărași as part of the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the start of 2021, the Czech Republic donated 55 lung ventilators and protective equipment to Moldova.
