The dairy products that are sold on sidewalks near the Chisinau Central Market will be available in a special tent from March 22. The tent will be situated inside the market. Earlier, the Preventive Medicine Center said the dairy products should be sold only in a specialized hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. Central Market head Ion Stratulat said more than 70 persons will be able to sell dairy products in the tent initially. Gradually, the number of sellers will rise to 150. Dairy products can be also sold in hall No.4 and hall No. 5, where there are over 90 available places. Ion Stratulat said that last week the persons selling dairy products near the Central Market were asked to move to the halls. A part of them refused categorically, while the others had been in the halls for about three hours only. Afterward, they went again to the street. Deputy mayor of Chisinau Mihai Furtuna said the vendors argue that the number of buyers is higher on the street than in halls, where competition is stiffer and they have to pay a tax of 5-10 lei. “This tax is not too high. Besides, the products on the street are sold in insanitary conditions,” he stated. Street trading is typical not only of the Central Market. There are street vendors near all the 43 markets working in Chisinau.
