The deadline for doctors to present applications for being authorized for free medical practice was extended until all the free places are filled, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
According to the Ministry, the decision was taken following requests made by family doctors who are preparing the files and didn’t manage to submit them on time to the Ministry. About 600 applications have been filed since the announcement was made on November 5.
In Moldova, there are almost 1,700 family doctors, but the necessary number is of about 2,000. The family doctors in free medical practice will provide free services to patients based on mandatory health policies as they are contracted by the National Health Insurance Company.
