Although the doctors warn the youths listening to music in earphones they may get deaf, young people nodding in the melody's rhythm can be seen at every corner in Chisinau. “The sooner these sound traumas appear, the sooner one gets deaf, which can have light, medium and grave forms. If only one ear turns deaf, 5% of your hearing sense is lost,” says a Chisinau doctor, Eudochia Tenti. She says the other ear can compensate for the loss but only if earphones are on both ears. When asked “What kind of music you're listening to?” the prompt answer of many youths would come: “anything”. As one of them confesses, “tastes differ.” The most important factors determining the genre is “your mood and your current action”. It's become sort of a trend to wear earphones from dawn to dusk. It's more than listening to your favorite song or genre, it's life style, it's a need. Often, a need to isolate from the rest of the world. “I listen to my earphones because I ride on public conveyance and I'm fed off with uneducated people talking or elderly quarreling. In such moments I don't only want to have my ears closed, but also black glasses on my eyes,” says a student named Iana Cristea. There are also young people looking at things differently. “I respect those listening to music on the street, but there are other important things that matter,” says Natalia Mereacre, a student. “One: it depends what music you're listening to. It should be chosen to take you up, not down. Two: if you do not pay attention to yourself and your health, what can you do for others? Three: breaking off from reality nicely, you can make road accidents and become deaf in both senses.” According to researches, from 5 to 10% of the people listening to music in earphones lose their hearing sense irreversibly because of loudness. The maximum threshold exists and it's between 40 and 50 decibels, while the music earphones as rule is louder. The doctors insist there is still a cure: the Measure, the Holy Measure from one's youth...
