Delegates from 43 countries discuss environment problems in Chisinau

Delegates from 43 countries arrived in Chisinau to participate in the 4th Aarhus Convention Meeting of the Parties, between June 27 and July 1, 2011. The event will gather over 400 representatives from Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Latvia, Ukraine and other members of the Aarhus Convention on Access to Information in Environmental Matters, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Alexandru Trubca, spokesman of the Ministry of Environment, said that adopting a law on people’s access information about environment was a priority. The opening of Aarhus centers for informing people about the state of Moldovan flora and fauna is also scheduled for the future. The Aarhus Convention Meeting will allow Moldova to learn practices from more experienced countries in this domain.
On June 28, a round table with 15 environmental NGOs from Moldova and abroad will be organized. Participants will discuss about the biggest problems they encounter in their activity. On June 29 and 30, the delegations will present reports about the situation in their countries.
Moldova joined the Aarhus Convention on April 7, 1999.
