The Democratic lawmakers who form part of the legal commission for appointments and immunities left the February 13 meeting of the commission, accusing their Liberal-Democratic colleagues of voting together with the opposition. The move followed the approval by the Lib-Dems and Communists of two bills that the Democrats opposed, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Democratic lawmaker Adrian Candu said the PLDM’s initiative by which the post of First Deputy Speaker is excluded, wasn’t discussed with the other colleagues from the alliance. The Democrats also disagree with naming the vice directors of the National Anticorruption Centers by contest. This bill was also approved by the votes of the members of the PLDM and PCRM.
When the commission was to examine another bill proposed by the PLDM, concerning the appointment of prosecutor and deputy prosecutors by contest, the Democrats left the meeting hall.
“This bill contains serious infringements. It limits the powers of the Head of Parliament who can propose a candidate for the post of prosecutor. We will not take part in such a show,” Adrian Candu said and left the meeting together with his colleague Raisa Apolschii.
The discussion of the Liberal-Democrats’ initiative was postponed for another date, at the suggestion of the Communist MPs, who said that they did not manage to study the bill. Liberal-Democratic MP Valeriu Strelet said they put forward bills that are beneficial for the country, while the PLDM-PCRM vote is not against the Democrats.
Earlier today, the head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu warned his Liberal-Democratic colleagues that a common vote with the Communists in the Parliament’s sittings will lead to the nullification of the agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration.
