The Dialysis Center of Chisinau has named the best three nurses of the institution. These are: Tatiana Evsiucova, Eugenia Puscas and Maria Gherciu. During a year, the patients stated their opinions through questionnaires and the award ceremony was staged in connection with the International Nurses Day that is marked on May 12, IPN reports.

Dialysis Center medical director Petru Cepoida in the event said the medical assistance is extremely important in the provision of dialysis services. When the Center started work, there were only five nurses there. Now their number rose to 26, while another four persons were involved in internship. This enabled to double the number of patients.

The questionnaires filled out by the Center’s patients are anonymous and contain a number of chapters, such as self-assessment of health, services and suggestions about preferred medical personnel. Depending on the results of questionnaires, the personnel get financial stimuli.

Brand manager Svetlana Chitanu presented the suggestion box for collecting questionnaires, saying it is an efficient instrument for adjusting the medical assistance to patients’ needs. Letters of thanks from patients can also be found in the box and this motivates a lot the medical personnel.

Chief nurse Ala Ursachi said that if the Dialysis Center was a human being, the nurses were its hands and heart. The nurse is the closest person to the patient. Besides medical assistance, nurses support patients morally as well.

One of the three awardees Maria Gherciu has worked for 35 years as a nurse. She said it is not easy to daily face the pain of patients. To cope with difficulties, one should love their job. The patients should treat them as they treat the very close people. The patients’ recognition is the biggest recompense for nurses.

The Dialysis Center of Chisinau serves over 300 patients, which is more than half of the persons in Moldova who need dialysis. The patients benefit from dialysis services based on health insurance.
