The Coordinators Council for e-Transformation Wednesday approved a short list of the registers and archives that are to be digitalized in 2012 with the aim of hastening and improving the process of providing a wide range of services to the population and the economic entities, including reducing the time needed to validate documents, Info-Prim Neo reports. The short list includes nine categories: the civil registry archive, the register of state material reserves, the Ministry of the Interior’s operative files, the state register of noncommercial organizations, the register of persons with disabilities, the state sport register, the register of producers and processors of products of vegetal and animal origin, the licensing and inspection register, and the register of persons suffering from oncological diseases. The final decision concerning the digitalization of archives and registers in 2012 will be taken by the National Commission for e-Transformation that is headed by Prime Minister Vlad Filat. The participants in the Council’s meeting said the registers and archives included in the short list were selected out of 40 proposals submitted by ministries and governmental agencies. Priority was given to the registers and archives that have legal support, that is they have an approved conception. The information contained in them will be secured at different levels, in accordance with the law on personal data protection. The digitalization of the archives and registers will simplify the provision of public services and will reduce the queues at offices. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gutu said it is very important to have an electronic register of producers and processors of products of vegetal and animal origin as it will help to monitor the agricultural producers and will significantly reduce the time they need to take the subsidies. Stela Mocan, executive director of the Electronic Governance Center, said the selection of the public services for digitalization is a continuous process as every year their will be digitalized the most important categories. According to the strategic governance technological modernization plan until 2020, which was worked out by the Electronic Governance Center and approved by the Government, all the public services will be available in electronic format as well.
