Prime Minister Dorin Recean has highlighted the need for a greater effort to encourage investment and de-bureaucratize processes.

“De-bureaucratization and digitization can bring about an increase of up to 2.5% in GDP”, stated Recean during a meeting of the Economic Council, a consultative body advising the Prime Minister.

The Government’s objective, added Recean, remains ensuring economic growth, increasing productivity and competitiveness, and for this purpose coherent and clear policies are needed for the business environment.

The prime minister also noted that, despite the current regional context, the proximity to the European Union offers an optimistic vision for business and will involve access to additional financing. “The Government will make sure that entrepreneurs have the time and resources necessary to adjust and make the transition to a new economic environment, and in this regard public communication will be improved to explain the changes that are taking place”.

The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss conditions for doing business in Free Economic Zones and IT parks, access to financing, labor insurance, ways to increase access to irrigation and other specific topics.

Established 10 years ago, the mission of the Economic Council advising the Prime Minister is to facilitate dialogue between businesses, the donor community and policy makers for the development of a transparent business environment that is favorable for investment.
