Owing to the restrictions imposed due to the pandemic, the libraries not only moved online, but also strengthened the digitization of library activity. In the course of 2021, the institutions promoted books and reading through their websites, different platforms and on social media, National Library director general Elena Pintilei stated in connection with the symposium “Bibliological Year 2021, year of strengthening of digitization of library activity”, IPN reports.
As to the results achieved by the Moldovan libraries in 2021, Elena Pintilei said that both the national libraries and the school and specialized libraries managed to implement information technology in library activity. They endeavored to develop specific programs, including to promote books and reading.
The National Library staged the fifth edition of the National Program “Central Reading”. The National Children’s Library “Ion Creangă” became involved in the national program and also in other projects of the National Library, while the Municipal Library “B.P. Hasdeu” implemented different promotion projects and programs. “We want to further develop the National Digital Library “Moldavica”,” stated Elena Pintilei.
Each year, the National Library of the Republic of Moldova holds the symposium “Bibliological Year” that is a communication platform for the professional community of librarians used to sum up the results, to disseminate good practices and to provoke the librarians to develop their skills. This year the event was entitled “Bibliological Year 2021, year of strengthening of digitization of library activity”.
