The director of the horse-riding sports club based in Balti was sentenced to six years and six months in jail for kidnapping a person for forced labor, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, last November a man was abducted on the street and taken in a car’s trunk to the horse-riding club, where he was forced to work. The victim had to look after the horses and to clean the stables during five days. To prevent him from running away, the man was beaten and whipped.
When questioned by prosecutors, the director said the victim was forced to work because he earlier committed a theft on the territory of the club. The sentence is not yet definitive.
