A doctor from Balti was sentenced to two years in jail for violating the rules and methods of providing medical assistance out of negligence, which led to the death of a patient, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, at the end of December 2012 a man with brain injury was admitted to intensive care section of the Municipal Clinical Hospital. This was examined by the neurologist. The doctor didn’t order a computerized tomography scan, which had to be performed. In the absence of appropriate treatment, the patient died in several days.
Recently, the doctor was sentenced to two years behind bars and banned from holding posts in medical facilities for a three-year period.
The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
