A obstetrician-gynecologist was given an eight-month suspended sentence, being out on probation for a year, for neglect of the rules of offering medical care that resulted in the death of a newborn. The judgment was passed by the Buiucani Court, IPN reports.
The doctor was accused of superficially examining a woman who was to give birth while on duty at a public health facility in Chisinau in August 2015. He prescribed unsuitable medical assistance to the woman and the women’s child died as a result.
The sentence can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 15 days.
