The head of the General Therapy Section of the Anenii Noi District Hospital Mihail Preotesa, who was confirmed with the novel coronavirus, succumbed to COVID-19. The information was confirmed for IPN by the institution’s director Nicolai Usatyi.
The doctor was admitted to the hospital in Anenii Noi on July 28. On August 6, he was transferred to Chisinau. He died in the morning of August 13.
The doctor’s wife, who works at the Anenii Noi Family Doctor’s Center, also contracted the virus.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, almost 28,700 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Moldova by August 12. Over 860 infected persons died. Thirty-one of the victims were healthcare workers.
