Doctor struck by traffic police car in crosswalk

A doctor was hit by a traffic police car in a crosswalk this morning. The accident happened at the intersection of Stefan cel Mare and Mihai Viteazul St, Info-Prim Neo reports. The doctor, 65, is the head of the National Sports Medicine Center. According to the senior public relations inspector of the Chisinau Traffic Police Division Uliana Catan, the police officer who was driving the car said he did not see the pedestrian as there was a minibus in front of the vehicle. Evelina Rusu, coordinating doctor at the Chisinau Ambulance Service, said the team that transported the doctor to the hospital diagnosed him with a concussion and a backbone trauma. An accurate diagnosis will be made after a series of tests. The 336 road accidents that happened in Moldova this year resulted in 22 deaths and 414 persons injured.
