A group of doctors that form part of the public association “Union of Doctors and Medical Personnel of the Republic of Moldova” called on the residents of Chisinau to elect the Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban, who knows the problems of the municipal medical system and has an achievable electoral program and a well-trained team behind him.
In a news conference at IPN, doctor Dorin Toia called upon the health professionals from Chisinau to vote wisely. “We do not have time to allow someone to use it to learn or experiment on us. It is opportune and logical to choose a mayor who would start work immediately. There is no time available for warming up the seat and for offering this seat to a person who is not familiar with our area of activity and, in general, in the municipal affairs,” stated Dorin Toia.
Doctor Ala Burlacu said the medical system faces technical, financial, sanitary problems and provides working conditions that are not attractive for young specialists. To solve these problems, a strategic plan is needed so that medicine is raised to a new level. Both of the candidates for mayor are young and energetic and have rather convincing programs. However, given that the term in office will be of only a year, the candidate with experience in municipal management who knows the problems experienced in the medical sector, who is Ion Ceban, should be elected mayor,” noted the doctor.
Anatol Ciubotaru, Doctor of Medical Sciences, said the future mayor should not be necessarily kind as kindness does not lead to progress and this should be rather equitable. The mayor should make the medical system a priority and should make sure that the health facilities are outfitted with modern equipment. Judging by the electoral programs of the two candidates, Ion Ceban is more suitable for this post.
Doctor Gennady Croitoru, another member of the association, said Ion Ceban is the best candidate for mayoralty as he already implemented projects and knows the city and the problems of the citizens.
The “Union of Doctors and Medical Personnel of the Republic of Moldova” is a nonprofit organization designed to serve and defend the interests of the medical guild.
