The public was acquainted with a documentary about the life of Olympic weightlifting gold medalist Tudor Casapu. “Road back home” was directed by Alexei Barat, while the scrip was written by journalist Efim Josanu. The film forms part of the series of “National dignity” documentaries produced with the support of the national public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
The documentary relates the champion’s life full of obstacles that he overcame in the hope that he can change something. It is a film full of emotions where the protagonist is allowed to meet the spectator in the most important moments of his life, said the authors of the production.
“Tudor Casapu knew what to do to become a great man. We wanted to show his straightforwardness. If the film had an impact and transmitted the feelings experienced by us and Tudor to the public, it means that we succeeded,” said the director.
According to Efim Josanu, the film is a challenge for other producers of documentaries and represents the beginning of a road. “I was lucky to have a prepared protagonist. Tudor Casapu didn’t stop at the title of Olympic champion. He sees the continuation in the coming generations. Two athletes trained by Tudor Casapu won medals at the London Olympics,” said the journalist.
The life of Tudor Casapu shows once again that love for the country can change destinies. “A person can have talent, but if they don’t make effort and don’t have will, they will not success. Everything is achieved by hard work,” said the protagonist of the film.
Tudor Casapu won gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He now manages the Professional Sport Section of the Chisinau Central Sports Club “Dinamo”, and is also the president of the Moldovan Weightlifting Federation.
