According to the latest results announced by the CEC after counting 65% of the votes in Chisinau, Igor Dodon polled 52.83% of the ballot, while the current mayor Dorin Chirtoaca – 42.88%, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a press briefing at 17.00, CEC president Iurie Ciocan said the votes are counted in a normal regime and it is absolutely normal for the CEC employees to take a break of seven hours. “We took a break, but committed no violations. When the efficiency of the workers is very low, they can introduce erroneous data. Thus, I think everything was done correctly,” said Iurie Ciocan.
According to Ciocan, the CEC has 48 hours to count all the ballots. The deadline for presenting the final results is Tuesday, 21.00, but effort will be made to provide them quicker.
Earlier, Igor Dodon had 52.98%, while Dorin Chirtoaca – 42.74%.
The partial results for the Chisinau Municipal Council show the PCRM won 50.30% of the vote, the PL – 29.50%, the PLDM -12.78%, while the PDM – 2.68%.
