The families of the victims of the road accident that occurred not far from Todiresti village of Anenii Noi district on January 15 and resulted in five deaths received over 250,000 lei in financial assistance. The money was collected as donations through the website caritate.md, IPN reports.
Co-founder of caritate.md and deputy head of the charity foundation “Sfantul Gheorghe” Svetlana Sainsus, in the program “Issue of the Day” on Canal 2 TV channel, said the money was collected during several days and this shows how receptive the Moldovans are, both those from the country and those from abroad. “There were rather generous donations made by Moldovans from the United States, but most of the money was donated in small amounts,” she stated.
Pavel Apostol, head of the Info Trafic service of the National Patrolling Inspectorate, said the penalties for violations of the road traffic regulations should be made harsher. A bill to make persons caught driving under the influence do community service in the morgue, to strip these of the driver’s license and make them attend the driving school again to get it back or for good will be soon submitted to the competent authorities. “In the shortest period of time, the bill will be drafted and presented to all the expert bodies,” stated Pavel Apostol.
