Donations of millions of euros for managing refugee crisis

The European Union will offer €20 million to the Republic of Moldova for managing the refugee crisis and for providing immediate assistance to Ukrainians who had to flee their homes, announced the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi who is in Chisinau on a visit together with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Vice President of the European Commission, IPN reports.

According to the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, the European Union will offer €15 million to the Republic of Moldova Government for managing the refugee crisis and €5 million as humanitarian aid for providing immediate assistance to Ukrainian citizens.

Donations for managing the refugee crisis will also be made by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, in the amount of 1 million, the Embassy of the Czech Republic has said. The money is provided through the UN Refugee Agency.

Over 60,000 Ukrainians found refuge in Moldova so far. A similar number crossed Moldova while heading for European countries.
