Dorin Chirtoaca pledged to be the mayor of everyone, regardless of the voters’ political option. “We will take care of all the residents of Chisinau municipality, not only a part of them. I will continue to be the mayor of everyone, regardless of their political option. We anticipated such a possibility and continued to work and implement projects, leaving the people to decide,” Dorin Chirtoaca said after Monday’s ordinary meeting of City Hall officials. The mayor said that his victory in the second round of voting was due to the higher voter turnout. “It was proven that every vote counts. The participation in elections was a decisive factor,” said the mayor. Dorin Chirtoaca said he missed the City Hall during the election campaign. “The City Hall is my second home. When I went to school, they said the first teacher is the second mother and the school is the second home. It is the same with the City Hall. A month and a half passed and it is time to resume work,” he said. He promised to make effort to meet the expectations of the people who gave their vote of confidence and of those who chose the PCRM’s candidate. “The election campaign is over and we must start work. It should be more intense now. Voters’ expectations are great and we saw it in the election campaign,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. The Liberal also said that he is waiting for the results of the recount of the votes cast for the Chisinau Municipal Council. “We have a mayor general, but do not yet have a Municipal Council. We will see the vote recount results and then will discuss issues concerning the Council. We will do it step by step and in no hurry,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. “We hope the PCRM will abandon the insinuations and accusations and we will start work for the 2011-2015 mandate. We will see how cooperative they are. We can experience again sabotage,” he stated. According to the preliminary election results, Dorin Chirtoaca earned 50.6% of the vote, while Igor Dodon – 49.4%. The outcome will become final after the Central Election Commission verifies all the voting reports in the original.
