The Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca filed an application to the Prosecutor General’s Office, whereby he demands holding the Communist candidate Igor Dodon accountable for falsifying data from the official gazette of Romania. Dorin Chirtoaca asked the institution to examine his application as a matter of some urgency so that an answer is provided by June 17, when it is the last campaign day, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The lies and speculations as regards the purchase of the trolleybuses should be brought to an end. I publicly accuse Igor Dodon of falsification and false reporting to the state public authority and demand that he be held accountable in accordance with the Penal Code,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
He stressed that Igor Dodon falsified a state document and presented this document as evidence, misleading thus the public opinion. “He has no moral right to claim an elective post in Moldova – of mayor, councilor or some other position. It is dishonorable of a candidate who applies for a public post to make use of false records and lie,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
He also said that the damages that he will claim from Igor Dodon - €12.5 million – represents the equivalent value of 100 new trolleybuses that can be bought for the residents of Chisinau.
Igor Dodon said earlier he would inform the Prosecutor General’s Office that the Chisinau City Hall, through the Electric Transport Company, signed a contract for the purchase of 102 trolleybuses for €125,000 a unit with the Belarusian factory Belkommunmash and the Romanian intermediary company Carpat Belaz Service SRL. He asserted that the price at the factory in Minsk is in fact €101,200. Thus, damage of over €2 million was caused to the budget.
