Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca Tuesday was summoned to give testimony in the case of Valeriu Boboc's death the second time. Before entering the Prosecutor's Office, he told the press that the pictures taken by the video cameras from the Government Building helped clarify many things, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Attempts were made to hide this information, even hush up the case. The videos show a number of violent persons beating young people. These persons now hold important posts at the Ministry of the Interior and a scapegoat is being looked for so as they are not affected,” Dorin Chirtoaca said. The mayor also said that at least 5-7 police officers are to blame for Valeriu Boboc's death. One of them is Ion Perju, an employee of the General Police Commissariat, who was arrested today, April 6. Among those policemen are also Ghenadie Florea and Ruslan Saachian. The others are yet to be identified. Dorin Chirtoaca also said that he possesses other information about Boboc's death, but cannot make it public as the prosecutors warned him not to hinder the investigation. After the questioning, Chirtoaca said he brought the prosecutors a list of 27 police officers who were in the Great National Assembly Square on April 7, 2009. A part of them beat Valeriu Boboc The mayor said all they must be suspended from posts as they contributed to hiding the information and did not try to tell the truth.
