The amended regulations concerning the obtaining of a driver’s license come into force on August 1. The main amendment is the optimization of the number of examination and driver’s license issuing offices and their equipment with video supervision systems and special units of transport for examination at every driving subcategory and category separately, IPN reports.

Another change is the exclusion of the time limit when a person didn’t pass the theory or practice test. According to the regulations approved in 2008, the ‘rejected’ candidates can take a new exam in at least five calendar days for the theory test and 10 calendar days for the practice test. If the candidates do not pass the practice test during 90 calendar days of the day the theory test is passed, they are obliged to sit against the theory test.

Under the new regulations, the persons who were deprived of the driver’s license will not be obliged to take the test again when the license is issued back to them. Other amendments will be made public by Minister of Information and Communication Technology Pavel Filip in a news conference on July 29.

According to ICT Ministry’s press officer Natalia Luncas, the aim of the changes is to eliminate corruption from the driver’s license issuing process. A relevant awareness-raising campaign will be soon launched.
