Moldovan citizens who decided to stay and work in France will have the opportunity to convert their driving licenses issued in the Republic of Moldova. The same possibility will be available to French people residing in Moldova. The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Agreement with the French Government on the mutual exchange of driving licenses, IPN reports.
“In addition to the seven agreements that were already signed, the Government expands the list of countries that accept the conversion and recognition of driving licenses on principles of reciprocity, in order to facilitate the access of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who live abroad, to services that offer better living and working conditions. The basic purpose of the agreement is to ensure the proper implementation of the procedure for exchanging driving licenses, as well as to simplify the mentioned procedure, for the holders of driving documents issued by the competent authorities of the Republic of Moldova and the French Republic,” said Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros.
The official assured that the approval of the agreement will ensure the right to benefit from the reciprocal exchange of the driving license, without the holder of a driving license needing to take the theory or practical test, namely for vehicles with fewer than 10 seats and with a total authorized weight under or equal to 3.5 tonnes, provided that domicile is obtained in the states of the signatory parties.
The agreement, drawn up by exchange of notes, between the Government of Moldova and France on the mutual exchange of driving licenses was signed in Paris on July 12, 2024.
