The driving test for obtaining category B can be taken by cars with automatic transmission as well from this month. The given cars are provided by the local driver qualification subdivisions of Chisinau and Balti municipality. In such a case, the driver’s license will contain a mention saying the person is qualified to drive only such motor vehicles, IPN reports.
Responding to an inquiry by IPN, the state-run Information Resources Center “Registru” said the practice of issuing driver’s licenses with such a mention was borrowed from the international norms (in order to recognize and ensure the free movement of drivers who possess national driver’s licenses of the Republic of Moldova in international traffic, while the national driver’s licenses must meet the requirements stipulated in the international conventions and directives in the field).
The driving test for obtaining a license allowing driving cars with automatic transmission is similar to that for obtaining a license for driving a car with manual transmission. The difference resides in the car used in the test. The need to take such a test and to get such a driver’s license derives also from the fact that a part of the applicants for driver’s licenses cannot drive cars with manual transmission, while driving a car with automatic transmission is much simpler.
The cost of the driving test for obtaining a license that allows driving cars with automatic transmission is equal to that in which a car with manual transmission is used.
