The president of honor of the Democratic Party (PDM) Dumitru Diacov considers that the members of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) should calm down and sit at the negotiating table and discuss the mutual objections. The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet said the chairman of the PLDM, Prime Minister Vlad Filat left the doors open for discussions after he announced that the party decided to withdraw from the AEI agreement, but a part of these doors started to close after the Democratic Party head Marian Lupu made related statements in the evening of February 13. The issue was discussed in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We should leave the emotions aside and determine what hinders us from moving on as the people expect solutions, decisions and governance of a high quality from us. We should see if we are able to go on together. My personal opinion is that we can move on together,” said Dumitru Diacov.
He also said that the politicians do not have the necessary political culture and experience, but ruling as part of a coalition is not so easy. “There are tensions, but I don’t think that a party can tell another party how to behave. Problems have accumulated during two years and we should come together and take stock of them. All the three parties should formulate proposals so that we reach a consensus,” said the president of honor of the PDM.
Valeriu Strelet said he agrees with his Democratic colleague, but Marian Lupu should not describe the Premier’s statements as false and ridiculous. “All the doors for continuing the discussions were open after 13.00 (when the PLDM leader announced the withdrawal from the AEI agreement.), but a part of them closed after the Democratic leader made statements after 18.00. Mister Lupu should control his feelings for the simple reason that he is not only party leader, but also an official person and Head of Parliament, who should not offend a Prime Minister by his vocabulary,” he stated.
He also said that the PLDM is for re-forming the AEI by keeping the current format, but by modifying the agreement on the formation of the ruling alliance. According to him, if the attitudes and approaches are not revised, they may fail in achieving the set objectives.
After announcing that the PLDM withdrew from the AEI agreement, Vlad Filat said they want to negotiate a new accord that would exclude all the provisions that run counter to the Constitution. According to him, the created situation cannot be perpetuated. At the same time, Marian Lupu accused Vlad Filat of destroying the alliance by making illogical and unfounded accusations against the government partners. The Liberal Party hasn’t yet stated its position.
