The Superior Council of Prosecutors decided to field Dumitru Robu for the post of acting prosecutor general. He is to be confirmed by the Head of State, IPN reports.
Making statements before the SCP members, Dumitru Robu said that the investigations into high-profile cases in which society expects results will be continued in the immediate period. The key task is to ensure the functionality of the Prosecutor General’s Office. He said that he does not communicate with the political class and has always abided by the Penal Procedure Code and the law on the prosecution service.
Dumitru Robu is the deputy chief prosecutor of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office. He started his career as a prosecutor in the Human Trafficking Combating Section of the Prosecutor General’s Office. In July 2016, he was named prosecutor at the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. In 2018, he was promoted to the post of deputy chief prosecutor of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office. In July and December 2019, Dumitru Robu held the post of acting prosecutor general before Alexandr Stoianoglo took up his duties.
